THE RISE OF VON DUTCH

After establishing a name in the denim industry, Christian began traveling around the world for new ideas and inspiration. Christian one day decided to travel to Bali, while still working in the denim industry and eager to find new ideas, christian experimented with the fabric Jersey. After living in Bali for a few years and experiencing working with many new materials he returned to the United States, this time to Los Angeles, to further influence the Fashion world. As Christian told ApparelSearch at an interview he explains that he moved to LA because, "LA seemed to be the next step for me. The weather was great, I had lots of friends and clients living there, and denim was always fashionable." While living in LA (2002) Christian took in next step in the fashion industry. Christian met with Tonny Sorensen, (the man who had just recently before that acquired the rights to the name, "Von Dutch." While working with Von Dutch christian became the head of the clothing label. He was most famous for the creation of the Von Dutch Trucker hat. One of Christians most notable achievements was being that primary force behind the rise of Von Dutch, and creating the Von Dutch hat trend.

Personally, I can remember the popularity of the Von Dutch 'trucker hats' but had no idea that Christian Audigier had invented the hat style and started the trend. In high school everyone wore those hats (in the area that i lived in) I remember them being pretty expensive (around $100/hat) and my mom buying me ONE- and putting it away for Christmas. HOWEVER, as they continued to become more and more popular, they sold the Von Dutch hats down on Canal Street in China Town and I can remember going down their to buy Von Dutch Hats.

Now the Von Dutch hats are not as popular now that Christian Audigier has his own trucker hats under his Ed Hardy clothing line. The hats follow the same trucker style, however; they included the Ed Hardy tattoo designs. The hats are made for both men and women and are so cute! You can get them in a million colors, with different tattoo print designs, and even with a little sparkle!
